What is the Adult Education (AE) Mentorship Plus initiative?
Launched in January 2017, as an IAL initiative to help Training & Adult Education (TAE) practitioners (who have completed ACTA/ACLP) gain authentic practice experience through working on TAE assignments/projects under the guidance of established TAE professionals as their Mentors. The AE Mentorship programme has been a popular pathway for TAE practitioners to accumulate valuable practice experience much needed for professional growth to elevate career prospects. To date, 99% of those who have undergone the AE Mentorship programme have positive reviews on the learning acquired through the mentorship experience. Beyond this, some outstanding ones have even managed to secure longer term business collaboration arrangements with the AE Mentors.
As an ongoing commitment from IAL towards enhancing the quality of a Mentee’s learning under the mentorship experience, the AE Mentorship has been upgraded to the AE Mentorship Plus. In addition to a more structured and focused learning experience, mentees can look forward to mentorship options that may lead to the attainment of skill credentials or potential funding to help defray the costs of learning under the mentorship. Please note that these benefits are not guaranteed and depend on the nature of the mentorship and the mentee's contributions. Importantly, mentees are not required to pay for the mentorship programme.
Participating Criteria for Mentee:
- Must be Singapore Citizen/Permanent Resident
- Completed ACTA/ACLP
- Has a valid AEN membership
- Can be an existing Adult Education Professional (AEP - up to the Associate Adult Educator (AAE) level only)
How to Engage AE Mentors
- Assess fit of AE mentor’s core business areas with own developmental plans
- Email AE mentor to request for mentorship opportunity with CV
Mentorship opportunities are not guaranteed. They are subject to the availability of suitable assignments that AE mentors have to offer at that point in time. For further queries, please contact IAL at 6579 0300 or drop an email to [email protected].
