What Is The Session About?

With rapid disruptions in the world of work due to digitalization and globalization, there is an increasing need to understand the relevance of one’s skills for jobs to ensure career resilience for lifelong employability. This course introduces concepts and findings developed by IAL Research Division which skills concepts not offered within a single programme elsewhere.

This course covers concepts of business strategies for skills, skills utilisation, job quality, performance, critical core skills, employability, career resilience and identifying skills gaps for upgrading. Participants will receive materials on skills concepts and obtain a personalised assessment of their state of skills and employability. Managers can learn how to discern skills gaps and augment skills in teams.

At the end of the course, participants will have improved understanding of business strategies for skills, employability, critical core skills profiling, skills gap, and career resilience.


What Does The Session Cover?

By the end of the workshop, learners will be able to:

 
Understand their critical core skills profile, identify skills gap for self or work teams, and achieving career resilience. The course will include personalized assessments and strategies for developing core skills and career resilience.

Payment

Kindly note that the system will automatically cancel the registration if full payment has not been successfully processed by 11.59pm (Singapore Time) on the same day of the registration. You will have to reapply for the course, subject to availability of vacancy at the point of your re-registration.

Singaporeans aged 25 years old and above are eligible for SkillsFuture Credit which can be used to offset the selected programmes' fees for self-sponsored registrations only.


Please note the submission period for your SFC claim via MySkillsFuture needs to be within 60 days before the course start date (date inclusive). If your course start date is more than 60 days from the date of SFC application, the SSG-SFC portal would reject your application. In this case, you would need to pay the full course fees at the end of your course application.

Rescheduling

Request for rescheduling must be submitted to IAL 2 weeks before the commencement of programme. Reschedule requests that come mid-way through training has to be supported by valid reasons; substantiated by references as evidence; such as a doctor's note; or a hospitalization chit.

S$54.50 w/GST ($50) applies for the request and the next available slot will be offered



Withdrawal

Request for withdrawal from a programme is subjected to review by IAL and the decision is final. IAL reserves the right to request for supporting document(s). A non-refundable administration fee of

S$54.50 w/GST ($50) is applicable for withdrawal request. If the withdrawal notice is given less than 2 weeks before the programme start date, the paid fees will not be refunded.


Corporate Run

For dedicated corporate runs with a contract signed with IAL, billing and payment will follow the terms of the signed contract. Otherwise, payment would be expected upon registration.



About The Speaker

Johnny Sung (Prof)

Johnny Sung (Prof)

Professor Johnny Sung is an internationally well-known academic and consultant specialising in skills research, focusing on skills ultization; national systems of workforce development with special reference to the sectoral approach to skills development and future of work; and high performance which links business strategies to work systems, skills development and workplace performance. He was also founder and Centre Director of the Skills, Performance and Productivity research group within the Institute for Adult Learning, providing bespoke national skills data, analyses and policy research support to the government. 
 
Bi Xiaofang (Dr)

Bi Xiaofang (Dr)

Senior Researcher / Lecturer | Institute for Adult Learning

Bi Xiaofang (Dr) holds a PhD from National Institute of Education (NIE), Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore. She has years of experience in conducting both qualitative and quantitative educational research.

 

Prior to joining IAL, she was involved in a number of research projects in NIE specializing on classroom interaction, pedagogy and professional development. Her main research interests cover pedagogy, professional development, adult education, skills development and workplace learning. Xiaofang’s most recent research includes CET learners’ sense-making to inform pedagogical innovations in blended learning and critical core skills usage and development in Singapore Workforce from different occupations. 

 

Dr Bi Xiaofang has recently completed a study on Critical Core Skills aligned to CCS framework developed by SkillsFuture Singapore. She has researched and published in areas such as CET learners’ sense-making and blended learning. She holds a PhD with research focus in Education and Pedagogy.

Principle Researcher / Senior Lecturer | Institute for Adult Learning
Dr Ruby Toh  is a principle researcher in the Institute for Adult Learning, specialising in career and employment studies. She has done extensive researches in areas such as employment vulnerability, career transitions and progression, career decision making, career management, and workplace discrimination and harassment. 

She has researched areas such as employability, employability, career mobility, career decision making, career management, and workplace discrimination and harassment. She holds a PhD in Economics.
