The four-part series of SIG - Learning Design in 2023 addresses the 4 Ps in Learning Design (Person, Principles, Process, and Practice). This first workshop targets the "Person" in learning design. It explores how perceptions and mindsets influence adult learning positively and negatively.
Join the panel speakers (Bryan Tan, Dr Michael Choy, Nicola Choo & Tricia Goh) to discover how learning designers can harness the neuroscience of learning & psychology of perception to transform curriculum and courseware design.
This is a fully online session conducted via ZOOM. Participants can participate in the session from any venue of their convenience with a laptop / device that is compatible with ZOOM. More details on participating in the session will be send to the confirmed registrants.
What Is The Session About?
Using the panel discussion approach, both Bryan and Dr Michael will moderate the sharing of critical incidents as developers to sharpen and hone skills and mindset in learning design. Drawing Right co-founders, Nicola Choo and Tricia Goh will also offer practical tips to learning designers and adult educators on how to shift perceptions and transform mindsets from their vast experiences in running a renowned drawing programme for adults (Drawing on the Right side of the Brain).

About The Speaker
Bryan Tan (Mr)
Michael Choy (Dr)
Michael Choy is a firm believer that education coupled with technology can empower people in the workforce. As a thought leader in the field of adult education. he is frequently invited to be a key-note speaker at university forums, and public institutions such as the SAF learning conference, Asian Development Bank Conference and Adult Learning Symposiums and most recently, at the ALX conference as part of the Special Interest Groups in IAL.
He is an award-winning innovator and researcher who developed impactful pedagogical tools to transform adult education, including chatbots for learning, and error-based learning.
Michael is joint Chair of Special Interest Group (Learning Design) at IAL, an IAL Adult Educator Mentor, an innovDev consultant as well as the founder and CEO of Tech Tree, a growing online EduTech company that develops online courses and chatbots for learning. Nicola Choo (Ms)
Nicola Choo is a motivation and engagement strategist, with expertise in mindset transformation and leadership communication. With more than 18 years of experience in the Learning and Development space, Nicola synthesises the latest research across the visual arts and cognitive pyschology to develop unique programs that enable people to explore how their brains process and interpret visual information, leading to a greater understanding of their own cognitive strengths and areas for growth within themselves, their teams and their organisations. Nicola is also part of the adjunct faculty in the National Institute of Education (NTU), and a Teaching Consultant with the National Gallery Singapore, where she helps train the Gallery's Education Facilitators on ways to enhance communication and deepen critical inquiry and thinking through Art.
Tricia Goh (Ms)
With a background in the visual arts and education, Tricia Goh (Ms) believes that seeing and drawing can be powerful tools for exploring new ideas and making connections. Using interactive exercises and art-based activities, such as drawing, she engages her participants and help them understand complex ideas in a more meaningful way. Whether with students, educators or professionals, Tricia is committed to helping people learn in a way that is creative, collaborative, and transformative.
