What Is The Session About?

Education and training are increasingly taking place in Blended mode with Classroom and online learning. One of the challenges of online learning is that some of the benefits of face-to-face learning, such as interactivity and collaborative learning, could be lost, or play a lesser role in the educational experience.

Nearpod is an online instructional platform designed to enhance Blended Learning (BL) and/or Fully Online Learning (FOL) delivery for both teachers and students. Aimed at increasing engagement, Nearpod provides an array of digital tools to assist in lesson planning, activity creation, and resource management. From the student’s perspective, it also provides opportunities for interactive activities such as quizzes and polls, in addition to a variety of other engaging learning opportunities such as Virtual Field Trips and games customised to specific learning objectives. The platform also integrates seamlessly with other Learning Management Systems (LMSs) such as Canvas and Google Classroom, in addition to Google Drive and Google Slides.

This 7-hour programme focuses on using Nearpod to design a Full Online Learning (FOL) and/or Tech-enabled Blended Learning (BL) Experience with features of Nearpod, covering what the platform can do and the way in which it can be used to enhance interactivity in both FOL and BL situations. It is a 7-hour hands-workshop, giving you the opportunity to gain practical experience of Nearpod, under the guidance of an experienced facilitator who is a certified Nearpod Coach.

You will learn how to create a fully integrated, tech-enabled Nearpod lesson with other learning resources and existing lesson plan, in order to adapt your existing teaching materials and create an engaging FOL and BL experience. This will be supported by opportunities for both peer and facilitator feedback. By integrating Nearpod with your existing teaching practice, you will be able to create collaborative and interactive learning opportunities for your students, and be equipped to deliver high-quality FOL and BL training which is both engaging and relevant.

Participants will develop a Nearpod Lesson based on their existing lesson plans, that prepares participants with the certification requirements for the next course, Be a Nearpod Certified Educator.
