What Is The Session About?

As the landscape of education shifts towards digital platforms, educators are faced with the challenge of designing online learning experiences that not only engage but also intellectually stimulate learners. This course, designed for adult educators, provides a deep dive into the Community of Inquiry (CoI) framework—an evidence-based approach that fosters social, cognitive, and teaching presence in online learning environments. What sets this programme apart is its focus on the unique needs of adult learners, who are self-directed, goal-oriented, and diverse in experience.

Participants will gain practical strategies for enhancing learner engagement, promoting reflective thinking, and creating learner-centered online environments. The course integrates AI-powered tools to streamline the design of interactive, dynamic online courses, equipping educators with actionable insights they can immediately apply to improve real-world online learning designs.

What Does The Session Cover?

Participants will be able to:
Identify the key elements of the Community of Inquiry (CoI) framework (social, cognitive, and teaching presence) and their roles in creating effective online learning environments.
Recall strategies for fostering social, cognitive, and teaching presences in online learning design.
Apply CoI Principles to Online Learning: Design learning activities and interactions that promote collaboration, critical thinking, and effective communication in an adult education context.
Analyse Online Learning Design through the CoI Lens: Evaluate how social, cognitive, and teaching presence are fostered in various online learning environments.
