What is the role of learning designers in today's diverse global education landscape? How should learning designers overcome current challenges such as cultural diversity and technological integration to operationalise effective learning programmes in large training providers and educational institutions?
This is a fully online session conducted via ZOOM. Participants can participate in the session from any venue of their convenience with a laptop / device that is compatible with ZOOM. More details on participating in the session will be sent to the confirmed registrants.
What Is The Session About?
In this session, we will learn from two highly experienced Adult Educators operating in cross-cultural institutions on their challenges and how they utlized tools and methodologies to develop and implement effective educational experiences that cater to a variety of learning environments. Their insightful sharing will focus on key strategies and common pitfalls in international education design. The impact of emerging technologies like artificial intelligence on personalised learning experiences will also be discussed, alongside a critical look at the business and ethical considerations in a connected world. Participants will leave with a better understanding of how to navigate and contribute to the gloabl education ecosystem as adept learning designers.

Bryan Tan (Mr)
Michael Choy (Dr)
Michael Choy is a firm believer that education coupled with technology can empower people in the workforce. As a thought leader in the field of adult education. he is frequently invited to be a key-note speaker at university forums, and public institutions such as the SAF learning conference, Asian Development Bank Conference and Adult Learning Symposiums and most recently, at the ALX conference as part of the Special Interest Groups in IAL.
He is an award-winning innovator and researcher who developed impactful pedagogical tools to transform adult education, including chatbots for learning, and error-based learning.
Michael is joint Chair of Special Interest Group (Learning Design) at IAL, an IAL Adult Educator Mentor, an innovDev consultant as well as the founder and CEO of Tech Tree, a growing online EduTech company that develops online courses and chatbots for learning. Harry Klass (Mr)
A strong believer in continuing education has seen Harry develop his skills in different areas of the education sector, especially around e-content multimedia development and LMS architectures. In the online learning space, Harry has worked with different MOOC partners and software developers that enable learning with the use of virtual reality simulations, interactive content.
Harry is interested to explore how artificial intelligence, virtual reality, gamification, and simulations can be better developed to improve workplace performance.
Nikko Aw (Ms)
Nikko Aw is a solutions consultant at Coursera responsible for helping leaders maximise their learning investment and prepare their workforce for digital transformation. She works primarily with government organisations and multinational corporations in APAC to curate learning solutions, future-proof individuals, and build institutional capacity. Prior to her current role, she was a policymaker with the Singapore central bank involved in fostering a skilled and adaptable financial sector workforce.
Nikko holds a Master in Skills & Workforce Development from Cardiff University and impacts the best lessons of lifelong learning to her 2 kids - her fluffy 8-year old dog and her not-as-fluffy 4-year old daughter.
