This is ONE of the six cases on assessment practices and the changing nature of work, undertaken by the Centre for Work and Learning (CWL). The case looks at the assessment design and practices of a three- year residency programme for internal medicine resident doctors. Here, we examine the different features of the assessment design and structure in this programme as well as practices on the ground in order to understand those challenges and tension, and conclude with possibilities for the future.
