Course Overview

Addressing shifting demands, the Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) Diploma in Design and Development of Learning for Performance (DDDLP) programme has undergone a revision to better prepare aspiring individuals to become curriculum developers and instructional designers.

The revised programme, titled WSQ Diploma in Design and Development of Learning for Performance 2.0 (DDDLP 2.0) aligns the programmme with the fundamental competencies recognised by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) for designing and developing SSG-funded WSQ certifiable courses.

This is a programme that aims to develop creative and analytical blended learning designers by providing the foundation for curriculum development and instructional design.

In the revised WSQ DDDLP 2.0, learners continue to explore a wide variety of instructional strategies suitable for classroom learning, technology-enabled learning and workplace learning. Learners will acquire essential skills for creating effective blended learning experiences and crafting user-centric learning and assessment solutions, all aimed at enhancing performance outcomes in the workplace.

DDDLP 2.0 has been revised with the intention to offer more flexibility and accessibility to working adults to learn at their own pace and time. The flexibility accorded by modular enrolment approach means learners can also choose to do the programme at a slower pace by taking one module at a time.

The programme highlights for DDDLP 2.0 are as follows:

  • Flexible course duration
  • Modular enrolment allowing flexibility to learn at own pace and time within the two-year candidature period
  • Reduction of pre-requisites with no compromise on programme rigour containing 6 SOAs.
  • Enhancing employability and increasing marketability of graduates through portfolio building
  • Exposure to future-oriented pedagogical practices that build learning-to-learn capabilities
  • Exposure to latest tech tools such as generative AI to aid in design and development work

The WSQ DDDLP 2.0 programme is aligned to the Skills Framework for Training and Adult Education (SFw TAE).Upon completion of the WSQ DDDLP programme, you will be issued with a WSQ Diploma from SkillsFuture Singapore which you can obtain through MySkillsFuture Portal.

This programme is offered by the Institute for Adult Learning (IAL), an autonomous institute of the Singapore University of Social Sciences (UEN: 200504979Z) (SUSS).

^ If you have attained the WSQ Diploma in Adult and Continuing Education (DACE) or WSQ Diploma in Design and Development of Learning for Performance, you will continue to be recognised as meeting SkillsFuture Singapore's Adult Education qualifications requirements for Curriculum Developers of SSG-Funded certifiable WSQ courses.

NOTE: Due to the intensive nature and demands of the programme, learners who have commitments should strongly re-consider before registering.

Learners enrolled in two concurrent modules must ensure that the schedules are deconflicted respectively. IAL reserves the right to remove/change the enrolments of such learners without compensation.

The WSQ DDDLP has been revamped and restructured to be more concise and flexible. The reduced programme duration enhances the efficiency while the flexibility to start and end the programme with any module, and the ability to decide on the duration to complete the course makes it more appealing for individuals who have specific busy periods in their work schedule. These changes make the DDDLP a favourable programme for WSQ course designers to embark on.”

Frequently Asked Questions

There is no need to take up DDDLP 2.0. DACE (1st and 2nd versions) qualification holders are recognised as WSQ Curriculum Developers under the Qualifications Requirements for WSQ Adult Educators.

The main difference is that the pre-requisites of ACLP M4 and securing a Project Host Organisation (PHO) are no longer required in DDDLP 2.0. While the contents are similar in the 6 core modules, there is stronger emphasis on workplace performance diagnosis, building of portfolios and an update on the use of tech tools such as generative AI tools. Assignments will be contextualised and manageable without compromising on authencity and rigour of the assessments.

The maximum candidature periods for DDDLP and DDDLP 2.0 are the same. Learners have 2 years to complete them from the course start date.

You are expected to attend all the scheduled classroom training, complete all assignments and fulfil all assessment requirements. It is important to be PUNCTUAL in class attendance as well as submission of assignments.

You are also required to carry out your own research and self-study outside of training hours. As the programme adopts a Flipped Classroom approach, you are expected to complete all the pre-reading and homework before coming to class to benefit from your learning experience fully.

IAL recommends that you embark on your learning in the sequence as scheduled, starting from RRP/LNA to DCF/DCE, for the best experience. Still, you can choose to complete it in any order you prefer, as the contents and assessments are now designed modularly.

While some learners could finish the course in a year, you can opt to finish it in half that time if you invest the time and effort to do 2 modules concurrently.

No, enrolment into the DDDLP 2.0 programme is not automatic.

As the assumed skills and knowledge required for the programme are pitched at a fairly high level, it will be necessary to ascertain that you possess the appropriate level of competency to complete the programme.

Advisory services to guide applicants on the necessary enrolment are available if you would send us your enquiry at https://feedback.ial.edu.sg/.

  • There will be no replacement or make-up lesson for learners who have missed a class.

  • If you fall short of the 75% attendance requirement in a module, you will not be allowed to take assessments. You may request a re-scheduling of session(s). Terms and conditions with an applicable fee apply:

Please click here to make the request.

All of IAL's courses include a substantial component of self-directed learning. As such, we expect learners to complete their preparation work and/or assignments independently before the scheduled classroom time.

  • Take note of, and observe all submission deadlines of assignments, which may include but not limited to written assignments (draft and final), video recording, self/peer assessment record, etc. Failure to do so may result in chargeable re-scheduling/re-assessment and/or a 'Not Yet Competent' assessment result for the module.
  • Final assignment must be submitted by the prescribed deadline before the scheduled assessment date; failing which you will be deemed to have forfeited your assessment attempt. You will be required to schedule a one-time re-assessment within 5 working days of the initial assessment date at a charge of S$174.40 (after GST).
  • Exceptional circumstances should be submitted to IAL with supporting documents for consideration, and upon review, IAL's decision will be final.

Learners who have attended Singapore Workforce Skills Qualification (WSQ) training module(s) and attained ‘Competency’ for the module(s) will receive electronic certificate(s), e-Certs, issued by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG).

From 01 July 2024, all WSQ e-Certs (Statement of Attainment (SOA), Full Qualification and Transcript) issued by SSG will only be available in OpenCerts e-Certs format.

Learners will need to access and retrieve their WSQ e-Certs via SSG’s MySkillsFuture (MySF) portal as IAL is unable to download learners’ WSQ OpenCerts e-Certs.

Singaporeans and permanent residents can access their WSQ e-Certs following the steps below:

  • Go to the MySkillsFuture (MySF) portal

  • Click the SingPass icon and log in via SingPass

  • Go to Skills Passport

  • Click on the OpenCert icon
