Training and Adult Educator Professional Pathway (TAEPP)
What is TAEPP?
The Training and Adult Educator Professional Pathway (TAEPP) is developed by the Institute for Adult Learning (IAL) with the support of SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) to further professionalise the Training and Adult Education (TAE) sector. The TAEPP provides a structured pathway for the skills development of Adult Educators (AEs) in delivering quality Continuing Education and Training (CET).
The National Adult Educator Registry, under the TAEPP framework, serves as the national benchmark to ensure the quality of AEs. From 1 April 2026, AEs who wish to deliver SSG-supported training will be required to be on the Registry. The registration process for the AEs will commence from the fourth quarter of 2025. To maintain their Registry status, AEs must also complete at least 40 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours and 80 practice hours every two years.
Objectives of TAEPP
TAEPP supports three key shifts in the TAE landscape to ensure the quality of AEs:

Establish a consolidated database of qualified and practising AEs within the national AE registry, enabling AEs to log CPD hours, record practice hours, and monitor their progress.

Encourage continual upskilling among certified AEs, to ensure training delivery remains relevant, effective, and responsive to changing workforce needs, including both domain and pedagogical skills.

Expand the pathways for expert practitioners to serve as AEs in delivering SSG-supported courses, enabling learners to benefit from their industry experience while supporting employers' evolving workforce needs.

Benefits of TAEPP
The framework is designed to enhance AEs' professional capability and recognition. Registered AEs may benefit from:
Greater Credibility and Recognition within the TAE sector
Open up further opportunities with employers and training providers.
Structured Professional Development
Support continuous learning to build competencies and deepen expertise in the field.
Career Development Resources
Access to learning opportunities to support professional growth and advancement.

Frequently-Asked Questions
The National Adult Educator Registry, under the TAEPP framework, serves as the national benchmark to ensure the quality of AEs. To maintain their Registry status, AEs must also complete at least 40 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours and 80 practice hours every two years.
The registration process for the AEs will commence from 1 October 2025 to facilitate the onboarding process.
AEs who wish to deliver SSG-supported training are required to be on the registry. These AEs include trainers, assessors and curriculum developers taking on full time employment, part time adjuncts, freelancers on gig jobs as well as industry practitioners with domain expertise.
Currently, AEs who complete the WSQ Advanced Certificate in Learning and Performance (ACLP 2.0) are certified to conduct SSG-supported training and there is no requirement for ongoing skills renewal.
The TAEPP is a national level effort to transit to a continuous professional development model, ensuring AEs stay industry-relevant and pedagogically updated.
IAL, with sector leads and industry partners, will identify key skills in pedagogy and industry domains to keep the CPDs relevant. CPD hours can be earned through training, workshops, conferences and workplace learning.
IAL and SSG are working with industry partners to identify and onboard domain experts as registered AEs to recognise their credentials, experience, expertise and skills competencies. This includes industry-specific trainers who had completed the Accelerated Industry-centric Training Pathways (AITPs) programme and certified to train in their domain areas.
From 1 April 2026, only AEs registered under TAEPP may deliver SSG-supported training. Training providers are encouraged to register their AEs before this date.
SSG will oversee policy and quality assurance. ESU will support AEs by mediating with employers and training providers, providing employment assistance, and highlighting relevant skills and training opportunities.
