The intention of this SIG track on coaching is to help fellow Adult Educators (AEs) navigate their way as they explore the coaching industry. AEs should undergo proper coaching training. The four sessions aim to support AEs with opportunities to experience effective coaching and techniques to use. AEs will learn two core competencies for coaches which are how to apply active listening during coaching sessions and evoking awareness in their clients.

This is a fully online session conducted via ZOOM. Participants can participate in the session from any venue of their convenience with a laptop / device that is compatible with ZOOM. More details on participating in the session will be send to the confirmed registrants.

What Is The Session About?

In the second session, we touched on the co-creation process with our client in their coaching journey. Bring an open, curious and receptive mind for this third session as we focus on communicating effectively during our coaching conversations.

Coaching often provokes the client to think further and widen their perspectives all throughout the conversations. Yet, we retain just half of the information we hear as we are often guilty of multi-tasking while listening. As coaches, we empower clients to help themselves becoming more aware of their own behaviours, thoughts, beliefs, and feelings. We also believe our clients have all the answers.

In this session, we will be focusing on:

  • Techniques to practice active listening during coaching conversation
  • Evoke awareness in the coachee to help them generate ideas and solutions
There will be a short demonstration and opportunity to practice in the breakout rooms. Experienced coaches are welcome to approach us to be involved in facilitating fellow AEs in the breakout sessions.

The SIG sessions for 2023 are specially designed through adopting the Coach Core Competencies (across from the various professional credentialing body). This 4-part series aim to support you throughout your coaching journey by giving you opportunities to experience what is coaching and how to go about coaching your coachee. Stay tuned for the last session!
